Our sleep is governed by a complex interaction of physiological, psychological and environmental factors.  Sleep can be disrupted by medical conditions, stress, body temperature, shift work, medications and substance use, lifestyle and environmental factors.  Most people experience short bouts of insomnia during their life time.  These episodes usually resolve themselves with a few days to a few weeks.  
When sleep is disrupted long-term and becomes chronic insomnia (at least 3x per week for a period of 3 months or more), this wreaks havoc on our sense of well-being and ability to function with the energy we need to live our lives fully.  
An inability to sleep soundly can also exacerbate existing mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, and PTSD.  
As a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, I offer a unique roadmap to help you understand the root of your insomnia as well as practical tools to overcome it.  



I do not bill insurance companies directly but many will reimburse patients for out of network providers for short-term CBT-I. Please check with your insurance company for details about your specific coverage.
